The first day of spring this year was March 20. What better way to welcome it in than a trip around the area at various places we enjoy. The first weekend we saw great weather and open skies while there was still a chill in the air. We first headed out to NF-70, one of our favorite roads to start out on where we met the elk in the picture above. We wanted to see just how far the snow had retreated and check out the road conditions. We headed up into the hills, then back into town the next day for a lazy walk around the Microsoft Campus where the flowers were in full bloom. We finished up the weekend with a trip to the Marymoor Park to let Emma play with other dogs.

Just a mile or two up NF-70 we let Emma out to run for a bit while we hiked along behind her.
It didn't take us long to find ourselves on the bank of the Greenwater River. I bet you can't guess what happens next!
Well, OK. Perhaps you did guess. It wasn't to hard to figure out what happens when we find water and Emma is with us.
Brrrr! This water is a bit colder than usual! Just a few miles up the road is snow. So this water was still near freezing. For once Emma didn't stay in the water very long.
Wet and shivering puppy!
When found a gate closing NF-70, we headed over to the Crystal River Ranch community. More elk. this time wondering around cabins and on the road. After a few pictures, we headed up NF-75 from the community to explore a road we haven't yet seen.
We again, ran into snow that was too much for our Jeeps to handle, so we turned back around and headed to the next photo spot we could find.
Jesse's four door Jeep takes a little more room to turn around than Debbie's two door Jeep.
The next morning was spent doing much needed spring cleaning of the yard, but that didn't stop us from taking part of the day and enjoying ourselves. For the afternoon, we headed into Redmond to the Microsoft Campus to take some pictures of the plentiful flowers that were now in bloom.
Flowers and Bees. The little guy above was keeping a close eye on us.
Emma, being a border collie has to have a job. So her job is playing fetch. We decided to give a Frisbee a try and it didn't take but a couple of throws for her to have this one down. So from time to time, Emma the Jeep Dog becomes Emma the Frisbee Dog.
