Enjoying the Fall Colors

Fall is always amazing with the colors that it presents us with. We decided to take a drive around our neighborhood to check out some of the changing colors.

Make the jump for more pictures and story.

Coulon Park is a mile down the hill from us located at the south tip of Lake Washington. It's a popular place for launching a boat, swimming in summer, fishing, and just taking a walk.

The trees here seem to all change at the same time and are brilliant shades of yellow and orange. This park is a beautiful place anytime, but the colors make it that much more striking.

Next stop is a corporate campus up in Redmond, WA. In the courtyard between a few of the buildings is a Japanese style garden. It is always abundant with colorful trees, waterfalls, ponds, and bridges. On the weekend it is a nice place to be with very few people around.

Just a note: This is private property, so unless you have permission to be here, we can't recommend trespassing to see it. But if you do work for the owner of this campus, or you know someone who does, it is a worthwhile trip to go see. We'd recommend late spring for the flowers, or fall for the colorful leaves, but anytime is a good time to see this well cared for garden.

Our next stop was Reinig Road Sycamore Corridor near North Bend, WA. While we didn't catch the trees changing color, it is still a beautiful drive near the Snoqlamie River.

In 1971 the Riverside neighborhood of Snoqualmie stood here. These trees were planted along it's main road. By 1950 the houses and residents were relocated elsewhere. The trees, however, still stand and are now protected.

Since we were in the neighborhood of Snoqualmie Falls, we had to stop by and check it out. These falls are always changing from spring when the river feeding the falls is at flood stage, to mid summer when it slows down to almost a trickle. It is always worthwhile to stop by and see what they are doing on any given day.

Best time perhaps is to wait until you hear about the Snoqualmie river reaching flood stage to make a special trip to see it. During the summer you can hike down a set of trails that lead you close to the base. Just remember it is a long hike back up hill.

We've got a lot more pictures of this day, more so than we can fit in this one post. And a lot more of the fall color from our home area. Please go check them out in our photo gallery.
